NON-FICTION
Letter from the Editor
by Tristan Evarts
Dear Reader,

The perceptive among you may have already noticed some changes in our third issue. Most notably that we have less fiction and less poetry than our previous issues. It’s a result of having raised the prices we pay authors. Constraints on finances have tightened, but as a result, though we have fewer stories and poems, we think the quality of them has greatly improved (from amazing to astounding).
The format has also changed in our magazine, as our poems and fiction have begun to intermingle. It’s a convergence aimed at enhancing both poetry and stories. Outside of that, we’ve begun preparing for our special issue in December focusing on artists of the genre, a kickstarter for February to see us through the new year, and an expansion of our editing team. In short, life marches on in increasing franticness for us at Utopia.

But as we accelerate towards brave new horizons, I wanted to take the moment to express our deep thanks to you, personally, dear reader. Your support, through picking up a copy of this magazine, supporting us on Patreon, following us on social media, or in sending your work to us for consideration, has made a deep impact on our magazine. We could do nothing without you. In fact, you, dear reader, are the most incredible part of our work. So from the bottom of my heart, and from all of us here at Utopia, thank you.

This past year in Volume II we sold more copies of Utopia than ever before. As we continue, we hope to refine our vision of hopeful futures and utopias in all their forms. We’ll bring you the best quality we can in artwork, poetry and prose, science articles, and interviews. It’s going to be an amazing journey, so thank you for staying with us this year, and we look forward to seeing you in the next. Now with that bold refrain let us go onward, ever onward. Onward, through the impossible!

Sincerely,
Tristan Evarts
